Wonder and Joy at a Festive Festa Americana

Over a festive 4th of July weekend, USO Naples served and supported over 500 families during a celebration of American independence and freedom at Festa Americana! Drawn in by the smells of lumpia, nachos, and other diverse food offerings, people of all ages gathered at Central Park for fun in the sun, upbeat music, and more!

As the sun shined down, families visited the USO’s lively booth to play carnival-style games and bond as a household. Kids leaped at the chance to play “Red, White, and Blue Ball Bounce,” find pairs at our “Star-Spangled Matching Game” station, and align the dots during “Snap, Crackle, & Connect 4.” The children of NSA Naples took off like fireworks, playing through all of the games and winning amazing 4th of July prizes in the process. The summertime fun was further emphasized with patriotic temporary tattoos that captured the spirit of the day and the smiles of everyone who stopped by. However, the biggest hit of the day came when our special USO Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty arrived to spread a bit of cheer, laughter and snap a photo, or two, with festivalgoers.

As the night set in, lasting memories of Festa Americana were left on the hearts and minds of attendees as the fireworks display lit up the night sky with a dazzling array of bright and vivid colors. Families and friends, seated on comfy blankets and chairs, watched in joyous wonderment as they burst overhead with audible “Ooo’s” and “Ahh’s.” Overall, the celebration 4th of July at Festa Americana was a wonderful way to come together as a community while celebrating our nation’s history.
