USO Naples - May 2023 Volunteer of the Month

Please join USO Naples in congratulating our May 2023 Volunteer of the Month, IT3 Gabriel Ellis!

With less than a year of service with USO Naples, Gabe has amassed over 100 hours since August 2022. An active-duty service member, Gabe’s wide smile and can-do attitude can be found assisting in programs all over NSA Naples. Whether handing out information and newcomer bags during Area Orientation, serving his fellow single and unaccompanied Sailors at Taste of Home, staying late to support passengers during evening AMC Flight Support, or hanging out with the furriest members of the community at Paws in the Park, Gabe attends each event with a positive attitude, outlook, and ready to serve his community. Most recently, he was instrumental in helping USO Naples aid 6th Fleet in their Austere Challenge Exercise.

Gabe chose to join the Naples Volunteer Committee because “… [he has] always enjoyed helping people and bringing a smile to many people who aren’t having a good day. I also feel like I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the USO in Norfolk, Virginia. They helped me navigate through the airport and local area as I transitioned to Naples… Thank you and the many other staff at the USO. I truly wouldn’t be here without you.” In his free time, Gabe likes to travel, volunteer with the USO, hang out with friends, play video games, and exercise.

Originally from Fosters, Alabama, Gabe landed in Bella Napoli summer of 2022. During his first duty station in the Navy, he was able to better acclimate to the area and meet new people by attending USO events and volunteering with his fellow Sailors. His favorite USO Naples programs are Sailor Showdown and Troop Time on Capo, where he can take a break in the USO Center with different gaming options, a hot meal, and an inviting, warm atmosphere. He enjoys the midday refresh and always walks away after each event feeling better and ready to tackle the rest of his day. USO Naples is proud to have Gabe on our team and is grateful for his volunteer service and innate spirit to serve.
