Happy Birthday, USO!

Birthdays are one of the most anticipated days of the year; they are a celebration of life, of accomplishments, and for those doing the celebrating, it is a demonstration of love. These exciting occurrences allow us to celebrate loved ones, pets, and even the founding dates of companies, businesses, schools, and organizations! Call it a birthday, call it an anniversary, the important thing is that we are having a party!

The USO just celebrated its 82nd birthday on February 4th, 2023. The NAS Sigonella community came together to celebrate the creation of the beloved organization that has been serving military members and their families for close to a century. Founded during a dark time in history, the United Service Organization has proven to be a beacon of light for its patrons across the globe. The USO focuses on providing support throughout the entirety of a service member’s military career, from joining, duty stations and deployment, to transitioning back to civilian life.

USO Sigonella commemorated the special occasion by hosting a full-on birthday party. The delightful evening entailed scrumptious chili-cheese hotdogs, great tunes, rounds of USO trivia, prizes, and the cutting of a beautifully adorned “USO” letter cake! The USO staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure this was a night enjoyed and remembered by all in attendance. The USO Team is honored to be part of such a noble mission and appreciates all those that show their support.
