USO Naples - January 2023 Volunteer of the Month

Please join us in congratulating our January 2023 Volunteer of the Month: Mrs. Cheyenne Whitney. You may recognize Cheyenne’s smiling face from photos of our Youth Advisory Council, as she has taken on the lead role of launching our first ever Council here. From conception until now, Cheyenne has committed herself to helping guide, mentor, and encourage our military youth, always being a shining light and sharing her warm energy and enthusiasm. She’s got a gift for art and creativity, and she’s truly a natural born leader. January alone, she dedicated over 30 hours of service to the USO and the community, assisting with the Council and other programs, serving on our Daddy Daughter Dance volunteer committee, and prepping decorations for the big event. “I really treasure my time as a chaperone for the Naples Youth Council that was founded this year. They are a great group of high school students who are passionate about improving our community, and I am grateful that I get to be involved in helping flame their passion for connecting our community members.”

Cheyenne originally comes to us from Washington state, where she was an art & leadership teacher at an International Baccalaureate school. When asked why she decided to join the USO Naples team, she shared, “I missed working and connecting with students when I first moved to Napoli. USO has a lot of programs and engaging events for school aged children that spark my interest. The programs remind me a lot of all the great things my leadership classes used to do in our school in Washington state. I know and can attest to the importance of these types of programs for children and their sense of belonging in a community, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it!”

In her free time, Cheyenne loves to spend time in her art room being crafty and exploring whatever new art media she is fascinated with at the time. Right now, she is especially excited about mosaics and has recently created a few pieces that are now proudly displayed in her kitchen.

Cheyenne, you are truly a gem, and USO Naples is so lucky to have you. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, service, and outstanding leadership. Congratulations on earning our January 2023 Volunteer of the Month. Well done! #USONaples #BeTheForce
