Vicenza 173rd Bayonet Support

Del Din was alive with commotion on Wednesday afternoon. Staff and volunteers from many different agencies were busy setting up their areas for the night’s festivities. The 173rd Airborne Brigade was conducting its 2nd annual Bayonet Bash. This year’s Bayonet Bash was in celebration of the return from the Saber Junction training event, the graduation from the Expert Infantry, Soldier, and Field Medic Badge, and all the hard work these soldiers have put in throughout the year. It is also the last time that the brigade will bring everyone together before the end of the year, while kickstarting the holiday season to blow off some steam, enjoy some delicious refreshments, and spend a fun-filled evening with family and friends.

USO Vicenza was there setting up a table to distribute refreshments. The smell coming from the USO’s grill filled the air with an intoxicating aroma that started drawing a crowd around the table. As the sun went down, the lights came on, the DJ played some music, and the crowd started moving from area to area, taking in all the festivities. Whether it was competing in the Corn Hole tournament, riding the mechanical bull, or throwing balls at the popular but frigid dunk tank, everyone seemed to have a great time at the event. The USO Volunteers set up a free hot dog stand to help feed the soldiers and their families and dressed in costumes to help make the event a little more entertaining. Getting out and interacting with the service members and their families is an excellent way to show appreciation to the service members for their sacrifices and dedication to their nation.
