USO Vicenza Make a Friend Day

USO Vicenza brought together superheroes, princesses, and other magical creatures to the annual “Make a Friend Day.” The littlest members of the Vicenza military community enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon at the MWR Bowling Arena on Caserma Ederle playing games, building crafts, and making new friends. Spirited volunteers dawned flowing dresses, capes, and mythical creature costumes to brighten little ones’ day. Eyes lit up as they rushed over to greet their favorite characters and creatures. Volunteers were not the only ones dressed up. The little ones were also decked out in their costumes as they posed for pictures with their new friends. Energized after seeing all the enchanting characters, the children moved on to thrilling games and exciting activities. Cups were falling as children tossed balls at the superhero towers.

Princesses helped decorate wands. Unicorns and snowmen assisted in making masks with colorful markers and glittery stickers. Not all heroes wear capes! The Vicenza Fire Department showed up in full gear ready to teach the kids how to be responsible with fire. They greeted the little ones with mock fire helmets and other small takeaways. Everyone was excited and thrilled to meet a real-life superhero. Being away from family and friends can be just as stressful for the youngest family members as it is for their parents. Make a Friend Day promotes the importance of building new relationships while having fun. As the day ended the children wearily headed toward the door with smiles and cookie crumbs on their faces, and good memories in their heads.
