Baking & Bonding with Dad
The sweet aroma of lemon and sugar welcomed NSA Naples children as they entered the Community Center with unbridled excitement to bake and bond with their dads. Choosing their stations, dads and children were welcomed by volunteers and staff who offered opening words and introduced the baked good they would be making together: Lemon Cookies! Filled with enthusiasm, the pairs got to work, following instructions from staff, mixing and whisking ingredients together, and most importantly spending quality time with each other. The children were most excited for the taste-testing part of the class, having milk and cookies!
Daddy & Me Baking has quickly taken off as a perfect program for fathers in the area to spend quality time with their young ones. The hands-on process has allowed children to see and execute the steps behind making this special cookie treat. As well as improve motor skills, build social skills and increase creativity. USO Naples has had the pleasure of hosting this program twice this summer and it has quickly become an area favorite. Cookies are such a sweet treat, and they taste even better when you’ve made them with someone you love. Starry-eyed children left the program in wonderment at having created a delicious treat from scratch. The dads in the group were grateful to have a program geared toward bonding and building connections with their kids. USO Naples truly enjoyed the opportunity to provide a program that allows dads and their children to work together and, most importantly, create lasting memories.
