The Return of Taco Tuesday

USO Vicenza is bringing back the spice with tasty Mexican cuisine each week to the Vicenza Military Community, with the Taco Tuesday program! Every Tuesday, service members and families line up starting at 5:00 pm to enjoy this delicious and free meal. Whether you enjoy chicken or beef tacos, hard shells, or soft tortillas, this carefully prepared meal is full of the flavors patrons miss from back home. The amazing volunteers at the USO work hard earlier in the day to prepare all the meat, sides, and even desserts, ensuring there is something for everyone. After preparing all the impressive food, the staff and volunteers line up to serve all of the hungry soldiers and families, bringing a smile to the face of everyone that comes by.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, this program was a huge hit, feeding over one hundred people each week. Now that it is back, word has spread around the community, increasing the popularity, and demand for these tacos. While the tacos are amazing, Taco Tuesday also provides a welcome treat for families that have relocated to Vicenza or are heading back to the United States. Staying in temporary lodging and only being able to eat out can become expensive, so having a free dinner once a week can ease some of that burden for the families. Along with that, it gives patrons the opportunity to connect over a homecooked meal and relax after a hard day’s work, showing that sometimes even a simple meal can have a significant impact.
