Summer Fun in Vicenza

It was a beautiful and sunny day when the staff and volunteers of USO Vicenza hosted their annual Summerfest event. The event was the perfect way to kick off the summer season and bring the community together before service members and their families start their travels across Europe and back to the United States to enjoy summer festivities. The smell of the BBQ and the music playing in the air soon began to draw a crowd, excitement growing. The hungry patrons appreciated the tasty food, such as grilled all-beef hotdogs, an assortment of chips, delicious desserts, and ice-cold water or lemonade, served by smiling volunteers. Next up, soldiers and their families were able to have fun with a variety of activities to keep the celebration going, such as a multitude of games, craft stations, balloons, and even a dunk tank! Volunteers took turns anxiously awaiting to see if the target would be hit and they would plunge into the cool water. Just when the children thought the activities were ending, they were called to gather front and center, getting a try at hitting a cool summer-themed pinata. Once it finally broke open, candy showered across the area, quickly picked up by the excited kids. To top off this wonderful event, patrons entered a drawing for amazing door prizes, like summer-themed items to get them ready for the beach, and more. As the day wore on and the temperatures increased, patrons made their way back to the food area to cool off with some frosty and fruity popsicles. As everyone began to head back to their vehicles, giggles, smiles, and heartful thanks could be seen and heard by all. USO Vicenza was grateful for this opportunity to bring this event to the military community and hopes everyone has an amazing summer!
