USO Vicenza Volunteer of the Month - April 2021

Please join USO Vicenza in congratulating our newest Volunteer of the Month, Josefine Velazquez!

Josefine (Jo) first started volunteering back in December 2019 and has since supported with over 80 hours of volunteer time. She started strong with volunteering, but COVID-19 halted her ability to volunteer. Now that many restrictions have been lifted, she has rejoined the team and is giving it her all. Being a mother of 4 wonderful children, wife of an active-duty service member, and the FRG leader for her husband’s unit, she still manages to find the time and energy to volunteer at the USO Vicenza. She enjoys serving our patrons during our food events, ensuring our soldiers and families enjoy a taste of home. When we need last minute support, she is quick to respond and help where she can. She has been phenomenal in the kitchen for our food events and takes on large projects during our large events. Recently she has created beautiful decorations for our Sweetest Moments Dance and constructed 2 amazing piñatas for our Earth Day event. Jo has been at the front of many of our events jumping in to help with baking, crafting, running, and decorating. Always sweet with a smile on her face and a can-do attitude, she is adamant about ensuring everyone feels at home when they enter the center or attend an event.

Volunteers like Josefine are how the USO continues to complete our mission of connecting service members and families to home and country while stationed abroad. By donating time and skills, our volunteers allow the team in Vicenza the chance to bring many amazing programs to the military community. Thank you, Josefine, for contributing to our efforts and being the force behind the forces!
