USO Vicenza Hosts a Special Delivery

Excited chatter filled the air as expecting and new mothers arrived at the Golden Lion for USO Vicenza’s Special Delivery Baby Shower. Diaper cakes, floating jellyfish, and other enchanting under the sea decorations transformed the ballroom for moms as they were escorted to their seats. The ladies made introductions and then the event kicked off with exciting baby shower games, such as Baby Shower BINGO and Price is Right, where the moms had some friendly competition to win amazing prizes. In addition to the fun games, the mothers also had the opportunity to win prizes donated by Johnson and Johnson, such as strollers, pack-n-plays, and baby bath kit sets. To keep the energy up, the moms partook in an assortment of finger foods and refreshing beverages.

The USO had a special guest join in all of the fun. The lovely Heidi Murkoff, the best-selling author of the What to Expect book series was able to connect with and bring a smile to the face of each expecting service member and military spouse in attendance. Heidi held an engaging Q&A session with moms sharing personal stories and answering questions while interacting with the participants. Later, the moms received a personalized, autographed book from Heidi and a photo opportunity. As the ladies left the shower, each mom received a gift basket featuring items from the USO and Johnson & Johnson. This Special Delivery Baby Shower gave the expecting and new mothers the care and support they need while they are away from home, making this time in their lives a little more special and helping them feel more prepared while also allowing them to connect with other women in the community.
