USO Vicenza Volunteer of the Month - February 2022

Please join the USO Vicenza in congratulating Vera Benoit for being our February 2022 Volunteer of the Month. Vera is from Tampa Florida and is currently living in Italy with her husband, of 31 years, Richard and her Jack Russell Terrier, Porsche Bella. She is also the mother to 3 lovely daughters and the grandmother to one special little girl. She has been with the USO Vicenza for a couple of years and is unfortunately leaving us soon. Vera loves helping in the kitchen and usually has something to do with each meal that we serve. If she is not in the kitchen, you can find her serving coffee as a barista or assisting with craft and appreciation bags. When you see Vera, she always has a smile on her face and a genuine love for the service members in her heart. When asked why she chose to volunteer with the USO Vicenza she said that “I love seeing a smile on a soldier’s face when I just say hello or just ask him or her how is your day going. I love to try to brighten his or her day. I just love the interaction with all the soldiers they sacrifice and do so much for us every day. I guess in a way it is just to say thanks for all they do.” When Vera is not volunteering at the center, one of her favorite hobbies is working on puzzles and exploring Europe with her husband.
