USO Vicenza Volunteer of the Month - January 2022

Please join the USO Vicenza in congratulating Elise Sosa for being our January 2022 Volunteer of the Month. Elise primarily grew up in Texas but moved around as the child of a military service member. Elise is a retired Airman who just moved from Colorado with her husband Pablo. She has only been in Vicenza for 2 months and has already found her way to the USO, become a volunteer, and worked her way into our hearts. Elise used to have two Miniature Schnauzers, but they are sadly no longer with them. She did mention that she would not mind getting another so if you know anyone who has them let her know. Even though Elise has only been with us as a volunteer for just over a month, she has jumped right into volunteering trying many different programs. You will find her in the kitchen helping prepare meals, serving coffee to patrons as a barista, helping staff open and close the center, prepping crafts for spouse socials, and assisting with games out at Del Din. Elise is a high energy volunteer who always has a smile on her face. When asked why she chose to volunteer with the USO Vicenza she said that “I volunteer because it’s important to give back to the soldiers who make it possible to enjoy our freedoms. As a retired military member, I used the USO at different bases and airports. The USO has always been good to me and helped when most needed. I want to make that same difference for our soldiers.” When Elise is not at the hotel or volunteering at the center, she likes working on her hobbies of scrapbooking and cardmaking and is very excited to travel and explore Europe with her husband.
