USO Vicenza and Santa's Holiday Celebration

Twas three weeks before Christmas and all through Ederle, the joy of children could be heard as USO Vicenza hosted the annual Santa’s Holiday Celebration. The elves from the USO gathered round to bring cheer and festivities to the young and old alike. With delicious hot cocoa, cookies galore, holiday crafts, and even reindeer games. There was much for the Vicenza Military Community to enjoy. The DJ played continuous holiday music, ensuring holiday cheer could be heard far and wide, choosing only the favorite carols from times past. Children rushed to the letter area, where they could write their list out to Santa, making sure not to miss anything. The fun was not only had by the children but by their pets as well. Along with the human treats and crafts, there was fun for the furry friends too when Santa Paws was spotted. Home-baked treats, hand-sewn scarves, and even paw print ornaments to enjoy for the years to come. Patrons also brought dog treats, blankets, food, and more to donate to a local shelter, helping other animals in need during the chilly winter season. Not too long after the event began, jolly Saint Nicholas arrived with a “Ho! Ho! Ho!” to listen to the wishes from the children of our service members and families. Everyone had the opportunity to create a long-lasting memory by receiving their own picture with Santa. Being far away from home during the holiday season can bring many challenges and additional stress. This event helped relieve some of that stress, create special memories, and bring a touch of home to service members and their families. As the event concluded and the weary participants departed, Santa’s helpers waved a farewell and wished them all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
