USO Vicenza promotes friendships and connections via their "Make a Friend Day" Program

There are countless opportunities that allow us to surround ourselves with friends and enjoy their company; however when you are a military child living in this Covid-19 era, making friends may not always be so easy. In effort to promote connections and entice engagement among the military families and children of the Ederle community, the team at USO Vicenza, hosted their first ever “Make a Friends Day” event- a wonderful opportunity of fun and themed activities to bring families together.

Armed with their best smiles and a team of “Super Heroes” volunteers, the USO greeted over 100 attendees, excited to make new friends and partake in a few hours of care free fun.

Upon entering the MWR Bowling Area, participants were greeted by princesses, fairies, and superheroes that made everyone feel welcomed and at ease. The event kicked off with attendees posing for a mini photoshoot with their favorite masked characters and continued on with themed craft stations, cookie decorating and games.

The resounding sound of chatter and laughter filled the room as kids played with their new friends or worked on crafts while mom and dad reconnected or met with other newcomers or seasoned community members.

Having the opportunity to host a targeted program such as this, was very important for the USO team in Vicenza, who’s always striving to promote engagement and strengthen the bond with the military community they proudly serve. Programs such as this serve as an outlet for participants to experience normalcy in a safe and controlled environment while enjoying the company of others.
