Ice Cream on Wheels

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! USO Naples knows the nostalgia of the ice cream truck and the fond childhood memories connected to it. USO Naples has launched a brand-new program called USO Ice Cream on Wheels where the USO Ice Cream Truck delivers complimentary frozen treats to the youngest residents living on the NSA Naples Support Site. The weather outside has been beautiful and it’s really starting to feel like summer in Bella Napoli. This program has quickly become a favorite among the Naples community. It’s a sight to behold as children run across the grass when they hear the melody of the ice cream truck. As treats are handed out, the volunteer team can hear little voices say, “thank you USO!” and as the ice cream vehicle heads to its next stop those same little voices shout “THANK YOU!” from the monkey bars. The joy this program brings is felt instantaneously not just by community members but by USO Naples volunteers as well. Volunteers feel the joy of giving twice each month, loving the opportunity to reflect on their childhood joy as they make their way around base. It’s not about the treat but the fond memories that are being made. This summer program is made of pure joy packaged and delivered to the community courtesy of the USO.
