USO Naples Volunteer of the Quarter Q2 HM3 Jose Alvarado

The USO Naples Volunteer Committee is comprised of committed, generous and reliable community members who are dedicated to supporting their military community. In February 2020 the Naples Volunteer Committee welcomed HM3 Jose Alvarado, one of these individuals who goes the extra mile. HM3 Alvarado has dedicated over 215 volunteer hours since joining the team, spread over 90 programs and events . He has shown his commitment to the USO and NSA Naples community time and time again and it is our greatest pleasure to announce him as not just the USO Naples Volunteer of the Quarter, but as USO Italy’s Volunteer of the Quarter.

Originally from Albany, New York Jose is stationed here in Naples with his adorable Australian Shepard, Emma. “I choose to volunteer with the USO because the volunteers and the Naples staff members make up a community like no other, full of friends that join together to make every event special,” says Jose when asked why he chose to volunteer with the USO. “I show up to every event excited to see what fun and creative venture the staff has to offer for the community.” Jose has been a leading volunteer during the USO’s weekly program, Sweet Tooth Fairy. He has volunteered for the program nearly every week since its inception in September 2021. “I’ve always loved surprises and this program is exactly that. This past year has been difficult for everyone and being able to come home to a small surprise from the USO is something I’m happy to help contribute to,” says Jose.

When he isn’t volunteering, you can find him spending his free time taking Emma on walks, playing video games or listening to audio books. From being a beloved Sweet Tooth Fairy, to spending his Christmas giving back to Single and Unaccompanied Service Members, HM3 Alvarado has shown an admirable amount of selflessness and compassion towards his community and the USO. We are grateful for his service both as an Active Duty Service Member and as a USO Volunteer. Please join us as we congratulate him and award him as the Volunteer of the Quarter!
