Month of the Military Child
April is Month of the Military Child and a time to ensure that Military Children know just how important they are to the USO and the Vicenza Military Community. Thanks to the amazing support from the Vicenza Community Club and the University of Maryland Global Campus, the USO Vicenza team did just that! Bags of delicious, kid-approved snacks were packaged up and the team set up a booth full of goodies. For one day, it was all about the military kids. Fruity popsicles, painting crafts, and superhero backpacks were distributed to the excited children during their exclusive event, but the fun didn’t stop there. Special guests T-Rex and Land Shark were on site to provide some entertainment. The squeals of delight and peals of laughter rang out across the base as children partook in the various festivities and danced with the USO characters. While life for a military child is anything but normal from day to day, their resiliency is remarkable and deserves to be celebrated. Through these dance parties and giveaways, the team works to restore a sense of normalcy to the children of Vicenza. As one child after another broke into ear-splitting grins, the assembled volunteers thanked each child for the sacrifices they make day in and day out while their parents serve our country. They truly are our little heroes.
