Virtual Coffee Connections Bucket List Planning
It’s a New Year and that brings new possibilities for self-improvement and goal setting. USO Naples helped local spouses start the year off the right way with a Virtual Coffee Connections program centered around setting SMART goals. The spouses who registered for the event were given an adorable bucket list journal for 2021 that would help them reflect on their achievements as they completed each of the items on their list. Those in attendance viewed a TED Talk that discussed setting attainable goals that centered on key actions. A big mistake many people make when goal-setting is making an ambiguous statement like, “I want to workout more.” The TED Talk taught that goals should be measurable and attainable so when the goal is reached you know exactly when you reached it. A better goal for workout out would be something more specific such as, “I want to workout four times per week.” A few items the group aspired to were to attend a college course, read 52 books, take one night a week to have game night without electronics as a family, and to run a marathon. Having a safe and open space to plan and encourage one another is what these events are about and why the USO values being able to bring the community together. Everyone who attended the event felt focused and motivated to take on the new year.
