USO Sigonella Volunteer of the Month December-Katelyn Schroeder

The holidays are such a special time of year for everyone, especially for us here at USO Sigonella. This holiday season we had the opportunity to bring our mission to life at every event we held for the patrons of NAS Sigonella. Though Christmas looked a bit different this year, our volunteers did not miss a beat bringing USO goodness and cheer to each participant of our in-person programs. From decorating the barracks for our single and unaccompanied service members, to providing hot cocoa and coffee at early morning events, our staff and volunteers worked hard to bring the holidays to life this Christmas. Without the help of our volunteers our staff of three would not have been able to execute the amount of events we did this season, and because of that we want to highlight two very important volunteers who went above and beyond this month to bring the USO magic to life.

Pictured next is our second Volunteer of the Month for December, HN3 Katelyn Schroeder. You may recognize her from Troop Lunch To-Go, Sailor of the Quarter and the Christmas events held at the barracks this holiday season. Originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, Katelyn works for US NMRTC Sigonella. Katelyn’s dedication to the USO mission was shown by all the hard work she put in by helping at many of the events held this past month. Her sweet, welcoming personality aided in the success of every event she helped with. She also played a part in helping bring the holidays into the barracks on NAS I by decorating the lobby and delivering goodies to the service members living there on Christmas Eve. We want to say thank you to Katelyn for all the hard work she put in helping her fellow service members and the families of NAS Sigonella stay connected to family, home and country this Christmas. We look forward to continuing working with Katelyn in 2021!!
