Thanks-Filled Bowling

It was 2 days before Thanksgiving. The center was buzzing with activity as last-minute preparation and coordination was taking place for the upcoming holiday. The Staff at the USO Vicenza noticed increasing stress amongst the community members and decided to take a break and have some fun. That evening they headed out to the local bowling alley located in MWR’s Arena. When the service members and their families showed up, they were treated to a free night of bowling and food. The bowling balls rumbled down the alley and crashed into the pins sending them spinning off into the collector to be sorted tallied and scored. Just as the scores started to rise, the whiff of something delicious filled the air. When the players turned around, they were surprised with a delicious, cheesy, American style pizza. Taking a break from their games the families turned their attention to the food and gobbled up the pizza and washed it down with a soda. Once their hunger was satiated, they went back to their games and continued playing. Laughter filled the air, and the atmosphere was a buzz with cheer and happiness. As the night started to come to a close, the USO Vicenza surprised one lucky family with a Family Night-In Basket filled with family games, DVDs, and snacks to help create a memorable family night in the comfort of their own home. Needless to say, by the end of the night the families left with smiles on their faces and a fresh can-do attitude, ready to face the upcoming holiday.
