Thanksgiving for the Single and Unaccompanied Service Members

It’s the Holiday season and that comes with several emotions especially when you are overseas during a pandemic. Now imagine being on Single and Unaccompanied orders as well. Travel restrictions add another layer of difficulty during this time. The way we can celebrate is different this year and with that difference comes uncertainty. The need to spread joy is crucial more now than ever! On November 26th USO Naples, MWR and the NEX joined together with Navy Leadership to host an amazing Thanksgiving lunch for Single and Unaccompanied service members stationed in Naples, Italy. Navy Leadership and their spouses, worked alongside of USO volunteers, filling each box with turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and other classic sides. A delicious meal was provided but that wasn’t the end of it. There were door prizes, electronics, ornaments, and Christmas trees were given out as well. The festivities didn’t end there either. The NEX granted exclusive access to shop and had additional drawings as well. The holiday spirit filled the room and flowed over the whole base. The smiles among the faces of the sailors and the appreciation could not be only be seen but could also be heard and felt among everyone who was present. The collaboration among so many organizations piloted this event to another level it wasn’t just successful it was phenomenal.
