USO Sigonella Volunteer of the Month November-Shane Smith

This is a time of year when many begin to reflect on what they have and all they are thankful for. Here at USO Sigonella we do the same. Although it has been a year of ups and downs, one thing has that remained constant is the dedication and support we continue to receive from our hard-working volunteers. Without our volunteers we truly could not provide the service we do for our NAS Sigonella community. No matter how challenging things get, our volunteers are always here to help us spread cheer and joy to all who attend our events, and for that we will be forever grateful.

Meet our November 2020 Volunteer of the Month, AE2 Shane Smith. You may recognize him from events such as; Troop Lunch To-Go, Taste of Home To-Go, Cup of Joe, Sailor of the Quarter and other various events around the USO Center. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Shane works with AIMD here at NAS Sigonella. Although he has been with us here at USO Sigonella for a short time, he was a volunteer with the USO at his previous duty station, so he is no stranger to giving back. He is motivated and kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He comes to every event with a positive attitude and embodies the USO mission. When we asked him for a quote about his time volunteering with us, he said, “It feels good to give back to my fellow service members and be a part of something that is helping all of us get through these challenging times.”
