USO Naples September Volunteer of the Month- YN1 Jerahmeel Aveno

USO Naples is proud to announce YN1 Jerahmeel Aveno as our Volunteer of the Month for September 2020! Jerahmeel joined the USO Naples team this past June and has played a critical role with the USO during Phase II of the pandemic. From waking up before the sun to serve coffee at Cup of Joe to helping ensure our single and unaccompanied sailors are fed and happy, Jerahmeel has dedicated over 54 hours of volunteer service in the short time he has been with our team.

Originally from San Jose, California, Jerahmeel is stationed here in Naples and enjoys exploring Italy through the diverse Italian cuisine. Many of you have seen his welcoming smile at events like Teddy Bear Picnic, Ice Cream Fridays, or at some of our Single Sailor events. “Single Sailor dinners are my favorite because everyone loves free food! Also, you never know who might really be in need of a meal. Maybe they are too exhausted from work to cook, maybe they don’t have time to prepare anything, or maybe they are just really craving burrito bowls and enchiladas,” says Jerahmeel.

Our volunteer force is built on the foundation of selflessness and love for the community, and Jerahmeel has truly shown how much he cares for the NSA Naples Community. “After learning how big the USO’s presence is on base and all they do for the military community, I knew I wanted to get involved. With the challenges and culture shock that come with living overseas, the USO events help foster a sense of community and can be enjoyed by all service members and their families. I am grateful to be a part of that positive impact and serve my community,” he says. The USO Naples team is proud to have YN1 Aveno on our team and would like to express our deepest gratitude for his volunteer service. Please join us as we congratulate him as our Volunteer of the Month for September 2020!
