Cup of Joe

One of the advertisements for military recruiting used to start with “We do more before 0900 than most people do all day”. With NAS Sigonella being an operational base and justifiably earning the title of “Hub of the Med”, there is still a lot of truth to that statement from the 1980’s: the service men and women work tirelessly in their assigned tasks, often at early hours. That’s why USO Sigonella has started an outreach program to greet these early risers with a “Cup of Joe, on the USO!”

At least twice a month the USO table is set up outside the barracks on either NAS 1 or NAS 2 by 0645. With the help of even earlier rising volunteers, the USO team delivers hot coffee, fruit, and breakfast snacks to the service members. This simple gesture is intended to assure our military members that they are appreciated! As the enthusiastic volunteers hand over a steaming cup of coffee, the marines and sailors begin to smile a smile that will last the whole day. Living overseas means going without some of the basic comforts like drive-thru coffee windows so USO Sigonella is happy to bring this little taste of home to Italy.
